Goodread Perception Expander plugin not shown on plugin list (kobo h2o)

Hi everyone.

I am now using koreader-nightly-20170821 on my kobo h2o. It seems that goodread and Perception Expander plugins are not in the plugins list. But I can find the respective files in the plugins folder.

I do not know what went wrong. Are there any switches for those plugins I need to turn on manually before I can use them?

Thank you for your informative messages in advance.

Update: Thanks to Ken, I now find both goodread and Perception Expander.
Goodread can be found by tapping the magnifying glass. Perception Expander is under the icon which looks like a page.

Progress sync

It looks like the default progress sync server has been down for some time. Syncing was THE reason I installed KOReader, though, so I am willing to work for this. Does anyone have a good ELI5 on how to set up an Ubuntu server to handle this? Thanks!

Hello everyone,
I really hope this hasn't already been addressed but searching finds no results.
Finally convinced my brother to try this great software on his Kobo and this is the first question he's asked me, seems logical I suppose.

Can you increase the text size of the info section bottom of page ?

KPV Booklet error

Hi,

I am new to this forum, which I find when looking for a way to read ePub ebooks on a Kindle PaperWhite.

Thanks a lot to all contributors, this forum is really full of useful information!

Here is my ebook reader:
Kindle PaperWhite WiFi (Kindle Paperwhite 1st generation --> Fifth generation)
Firmware: Kindle 5.6.1.1 (2689890035)

I read carefully all procedures and install :
- downgrade firmware (to Kindle 5.3.3), install jailbreak (kindle-jailbreak-1.14.N), and update firmware to same version than before (Kindle 5.6.1.1) ;
- KUAL 2.7 ;
- MRPI 1.6N ;
- KPVBooklet 0.6.5 (as an extension) ;
- KOReader nightly 20170821 (but also tried KOReader nightly 20171004).

And here is my problem.
I want to open ePub ebooks in the Kindle native interface, without opening KOReader. I read it is possible, but when I try, it prints an error message:
"Application error, the selected application could not be started. Try again."
(It is my english traduction of the french message I have got, so it must be inacurate. But I think you will understand. ;) ).

Thanks for your help. :)

Shortcut to change the frontlight level

Hello,

I'm using Koreader on the PB361.

A feature that I liked in Coolreader was the ability to adjust the frontlight by swiping up and down.

On Koreader, it seems there's a similar feature (I made it work once, by mistake, when trying to change the size of the fonts) but I'm not sure what is the swiping move and how it could be configured in the option.

Not able to select menu entries in top-left corner

Recently I've started using Koreader on my Kobo Aura H20 reader because of its superior PDF support. However, I'm experiencing quite an annoying problem, which someone here might know something about. The problem itself is that I'm not able to tap/select anything, including menu items, in the top-left corner of the screen. For example, I'm not able to select the first (leftmost) 2 items on the top menu. Does anyone has any idea what might be causing this?

For the time being the only workaround I've come up with is switching to landscape mode, in which case the menu item moves in the bottom-left corner, where I can select it.

I understand this could easily be a problem with my device, but the strange part is that using the default Kobo firmware (a.k.a. nickel), I'm not having such a "blind spot" on the screen: I can successfully tap the top-left menu icon.

If nothing comes to mind regarding the cause for this behavior, can someone suggest a workaround that will enable me to tap on the first 2 menu items without having to switch to landscape mode? For example, is there a way to configure Koreader to, let's say, use only the right/east 80% of the screen for rendering the menu?

KOReader + KA1 (4.6.9995) + KSM8 : auto-sleep

My KA1 goes to sleep while in KOReader after 1 hour of inactivity.

Am not complaining (especially as I was sure of no auto-sleep in KOReader), just wondering if there is a setting which will enable me to set the time for auto-sleep.

Add blank lines between paragraphs.

As noted elswhere - KA1 and KOReader nightly 1370.

Reading an epub, I actually quite like the way it is rendered in Nickel, especially the blank lines between paragraphs (but I don't like a lot of other things about nickel ....).

I know I can use Calibre to add this, but am wondering if there is some setting in KOReader to add blank lines between paragraphs.

As usual, any help will be appreciated.

KOReader & Kindle Touch 8th: installation ok but nothing work [ help ]

Hi guys & girls,

I just put my hand on an Kindle Touch 3 8th White ( G000 KA05 ) and try to make it a bit more efficient than the vanilla version. When i got it, it was under the 5.8.10 firmware.

So i jaillbreak it successfully with the downgrade method by using this site

https://www.ereader-palace.com/how-t...e-2016-method/

After that i update to the latest amazon firmware: 5.8.11

Then i install MPRI ( kual-mrinstaller-1.6 ), Kual 2.7, and then kindle-kpvbooklet-0.6.4 & KOReader v2015.11 by followinf these instructions:

https://www.ereader-palace.com/4-mus...g-kindle/#mrpi

Everything went good, no error, but now when i try to open pdf or epub ( without drm ), the screen flash, and bring me back to the home.
If i try to launch KOReader from KUAL, it's the same, screen flash & back to home.

So i do a factory reset, retry the whole process, but dont upgrade to the latest firmware, and keep the KT3_5.8.0 who it needed to the jaillbreak, everything good, no install problem, but it do the same, i can't read any file ( in fact i can't even read pdf with the native reader ).

So i'm bit confuse because i'dont see where and when the problem came... If you have any ideas youre welcolme.

Ps: Sry for the language, english is no my born language.

Koreader on H2O Edition 2 (H2O2)

Hello,

Is there a thread to follow Koreader developpement for this specific device ?
I can not open a bugtracking because it's not really a bug. It's only a device NOT supported yet...

My way is to install the latest nightly update, every 2-3 days, and try to run the app since are working KSM08 and pbchess. But after few iterations it's boring...

I am OK to test new updates on my device if someone need, as a beta tester.

Thank you all

flatten file browser?

Hi!

First of all, thanks so much for the hard work done on the file manager UI. I think it is a great improvement to have metadata and covers available there: it really improves the display and usability of the file manager.

I still think some improvements would be necessary before I completely ditch the old Nickel interface from my Kobo. The problem that remains for me is that when I browse the root of my Calibre-managed Kobo directory (/mnt/onboard), I get presented with a list of authors. That's the way Calibre does thsi by default, and I'm not sure I know how (or even want to) change this pattern.

Compare this with how Nickel works: when I browse books, I have a flat list that I can sort by last added, author, etc...

Would it be possible to have an option to "flatten" the directory hierarchy the same way? It seems that the file manager already "knows" about all the books in the subdirectories: it's telling me how many there are in each of those. Couldn't there be an option to just show all the files within all the directories in my home?

This would be the cherry on top that would make koreader finally usable for my use case, and I believe it would complete the UI redesign work started months ago.

Thanks!

launching koreader on Kobo Glo HD

I just gave up my jailbroken Kindle Voyage for a Kobo. On the Kindle, PDFs selected from the main library screen automatically opened on koreader. Is this possible on the Kobo, or must I launch the kobo file browser and navigate to the titles?

Koreader could not be opened by click an epub file on the books list

After updating my KT to 5.3.7.3 and having jailbroken it again and installed all sort of extensions, Koreader couldn't be opening by clicking on an epub or pdf book. Every time I tried to open an epub or pdf file, a message would show saying "The selected application could not be started. ..."
However, on the KUAL extension list, I can open Koreader and everything works fine. I've updated KPVBooklet to 0.6.6 and the problem persists.
Any advice?

Sleeping danger

Hi

I like to read custom made PDF in 9×12 format. There is still a small drawback I'd like to correct: when, a little sleepy, my thumb slides slightly on the left just to touch the right side of the screen (somewhere at mid-height), it produces a long press effect and shuts down koreader. It's usually at that time that I wake up.

It's the ebooker equivalent of falling from your bed.

It happened many times (that's life :o ) and I wonder if there exists an option to disable this dangerous -for me- feature. No long press on the screen to shutdown please.

Remote settings change

Is there any existing way to remotely change settings, specifically night mode and brightness?

Might seem like a weird request, but my use case is to integrate with the Home Assistant project and be able to change the brightness and turn night mode on in an automation/scene.

I didn't see anything like it anywhere that seemed to indicate that the functionality existed already, but I just thought I'd check

Not able to select Koreader via Nickel...?

Hej everyone!

For my Aura One, I tried to install Koreader for better PDF view. So I installed the latest version of KSM (with the patch needed), and it worked fine. Then I tried to copy the Koreader files into the ".add"-folder. At that time I didn't get that "extract the folder" means "copy the folder". I thought it meant "copy the contents of the folder", so I copied all the files into the .add folder. Directly thereafter, I tried to start koreader via the koreader icon in nickel...

Two things happened:
-koreader doesn't work. I tried to delete the files from the .add folder it and try again the right way, but still it doesnt work.
-the icons in nickel stopped working, they just show the picture.

If anyone could tell me how to fix my mistake, I would be very glad! Would uninstalling everything an then trying it again the right way be enough? If so, is there a guide, threat or something reliable and understandable for people like me?

Best Regards!
