Will changing the font size in a book change my reading stats?

Hi,

I just noticed the pages of books increase or decrease depending on the font size I use. Will changing font sizes affect my reading statistics for "number of pages read" and "average time per page"? Thanks!

Open specified files with KOReader function doesn't work

I had set some file types to always open with KOReader. After the last update, this feature doesn't work and I can no longer find this option in the menu.

Any idea what happens?

KOreader as default on Boox Poke 3

i'm using KOreader on my new Poke 3 and it's much better than the native reader. I downloaded it from the Boox app store. However, I've not been able to set it as the default reader app. I've done the long-press on a book title, selected 'open with' and the only option is the default Neoreader. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Dictionary look up for English not working

Hallo,

I am facing since around 1 week a wierd problem with koreader (april and Mai update) on Kobo forma. The English Dictionaries - big ones like oxford or the downloaded ones from Koreader- are not working. It stays at the looking up message. The dictionaries show up in dictionary list in Koreader. I have a Kobo Clara HD which does not have this problem. I recopied the dict-files from there and it they are still not working. Dictionaries in other language (e.g. German Pons) are working as expected on both devices.

Is some else facing a similar error?

Koreader not responding

After last update for May 2021.
Using Onyx boox Poke 2. When I turn off the screen while Koreader is open, and then turn it back on after about 20 seconds, Koreader doesn't respond to touches and will give an error message "Koreader not responding. Wait or Close"

change of koreader menu fonts

I have fun translating or completing koreader's menus with Hosted Weblate.
I would also like to change some fonts to improve the aesthetics of the various menu layouts. This change does not work with a copy paste. Is it possible to change the fonts?

Disabling bottom menu to appear when activating top

Hi, All,

after upgrade (clean install) when I press top menu, bottom comes out as well. Before bottom was coming out only on bottom tap.

Does anybody know how to make bottom menu NOT to appear when opening TOP menu.

kodev and plugin development

I am trying to figure out how to do plugin development.

I followed the build environment guide and got kodev run to launch koreader on my macOS machine without issue.

However, I can't figure out where to put the helloworld plugin and have it show up in the emulator.

My expectation was that if I copied hello.koplugin into the debug directory it would show up in the Plugin list. However, it does not.

So, how do you do plugin development with `kodev run`?

Koreader/Nickle Shared Folders

I apologize if this is documented. I looked around and couldn't find an answer.

Is there a folder that the KOReader Dropbox plugin can sync books to, which is also visible to Nickle?

I have the "don't scan hidden folders" option turned on. I'd prefer to keep it on.

Page remaining bug

When I have the page number display to show the pages remaining, the last page shows -0/XXX. There is no such thing as a negative 0. Can this please be fixed so the last page is shown as -1/XXX? Thanks.

I'm loving KOReader on an Amazon Fire tablet. I'm reading several PDFs with page flow enabled, but I find it slightly distracting after turning pages to have to hunt for the line I left off in the preceding page. Can I adjust anything to make it easier to identify where my reading should continue after turning pages on a flowed PDF?

Koreader fails to display images in a cbz file correctly.

It displays the first image fine, then the following images all have a piece of the previous image attached to them pushing the next image lower on the screen and cutting it off. I even reduced the image size to almost my reader's native resolution. 800x600. Any ideas? I read elsewhere that cbz comics work fine. (My cbz comics are epubs renamed to the .cbz extension.)

Support for Sony PRS T1?

Hi, I was looking for solutions to update my wife's good old Sony PRS-T1. The stock firmware works rather poorly compared with my Kobo Aura HD (which now runs on KOReader). I wonder if KOReader supports this archaic model still. I have tried to look up relevant information but to no avail.

koreader deletes calibre metadata after sending book via USB to device

When I send a book from calibre to my Kobo via USB, the book gets copied to the device and the metadata gets updated, but after ejecting, the meta data file gets reverted.
Next time I connect the device, calibre doesn't see the new book anymore. With Nickel, the same workflow does work correctly.

Scenario 1: Sending book from calibre to Kobo via USB when koreader is open
  • koreader is running
  • Connect USB to computer
  • "Share storage via USB?" -> Share
  • Send new book from Calibre to main memory
  • Check file on root of kobo: metadata.calibre: The new book gets an new entry there
  • Eject Kobo from Calibre
  • On Kobo, go to file explorer. New book is there as a file
  • Connect Kobo again via USB
  • Not OK: Check metadata.calibre: The entry for the new book is not there anymore.
  • Not OK: In Calibre the book is not shown as existing on device in library (Green mark)

Scenario 2: Sending book from calibre to Kobo via USB when nickel is open
  • Exit koreader
  • Nickel is running
  • Connect USB
  • Send new book from Calibre to main memory
  • Check file on root of kobo: metadata.calibre: The new book gets an new entry there
  • Eject Kobo from Calibre
  • Nickel shows import dialog
  • Open Koreder
  • Go to file explorer: New book is there as a file
  • Connect Kobo again via USB
  • OK: Check metadata.calibre: The entry for the new book is still there.
  • OK: In Calibre the book is shown as existing on device in library (Green check mark)

Why is scenario 2 with nickel working correctly but scenario 1 with koreader not? Is this a bug in koreader or am I missing something?

shift last line first page chapter

On all books there is a lag between the last line of the first page of a chapter and the last line of the following pages. I think I have tried all settings without success. I am looking for the solution.

2-column view: Change width?

Having just begun experimenting with 2-column view I realize this is pretty brazen, but is there any way to narrow the width of the gap between the columns, freeing up space for the 2 columns of text?

Problem with footnotes

In this book I can not get the footnotes to show at the bottom of the page, as in-page popup, or just follow to the note at the end of the book. I tried several combinations of options in the Styles menu to no avail. I understand this can be a problem with the book itself. Nickel can not show this book at all, and dies on links from TOC.
