Rebuild TOC

I have KOReader running on three different readers and it's been working great until just recently. I'm running the 2018-04-12 on all the devices and on one of them the table of contents on every book is messed up - all the chapters show that they start on page 1. I've tried removing the .sdr directory for the book I was reading but it didn't seem to help. What can I do to rebuild that Table of Contents?

The same books work perfectly fine on the other two devices

Hello,
I would like to use koreader on my kobo aura one but this software is not fully translated into French including all settings. Is the complete translation planned?
In addition, the personal settings are saved only for the current book (font model, size, layout, etc .... We must redo each new book.This will be solved one day?

A prayer: to increase the font-size of MuPDF for ePub

Hi

Since this interesting new feature was introduced some months ago, I am waiting to have the opportunity to use it.

MuPDF is a wonderful PDF reader. It seems to be able to become also an acceptable alternate choice to the actual ePub renderer if only its default font-size could be increased.

Now, it seems stuck at about 70%, maybe less, which makes texts for me -and probably many other ebook readers- hardly readable. I can certainly read one page, but there is no way I would force myself to read a book at such a small size.

The documentation does not seem to be too far-fetched and I regret not being able to make this simple action... I can read on this link that there is a command to set the default font-size for ePubs. I hope one developer will take care of it. :bulb2:

New Kobo firmware

Can I update the Kobo with this new firmware and preserve everything on Koreader?

Or is there anything I should do before updating? Or maybe after?

USB stopped working

Hi

I did experiment a freeze once the PW3 was on sleep (without any shock). I finally managed to wake it up by chance (long press, hope, long press...).

It works now nicely without any artefact after waking up. But the USB does not work anymore on v2015.11-1732-g4c8ef61_2018-05-30 and the OTA version right before this one. It's the first time this happens.

USB works like usual on the Kindle so this is not a major problem for me.

characters of the title of the books

Hello,
In the upper mini bar, which contains the title of the book, the state of the battery ... the size of the characters is very small (1mm on aura one) .I did not find the corresponding line in the file defaults.lua
Is there a way to increase the font of this top bar?

Switch keyboard layouts on the fly

I was searching around here how to add Greek keyboard layout to Koreader, but looks like under frontend/ui/data/keyboardlayouts/ Greek is already there. How to activate it?

There is the globe button on the keyboard. It currently switches to Russian at least. How to add more keyboard layouts under than button so that the globe button would cycle through as many layouts as are available?

And a suggestion: Would you consider an option to obtain diacritical letters by long press from under the main letter? It would save lots of space and need for cycling around with extended layouts.

merging koreader highlighths

It is great that you can sync a reading position between two koreaders. Now I have on two devices (kindle and android) set of highlights in the metadata.epub.lua file in *.sdr directory.

Is there a tool which will allow me to merge these highlights information?
Is there description of their format so I can write such a tool?

french dict kobo nickel to koreader stardict

Hi there,

I noticed this morning that the dicthtml-fr.zip which happens to be the stock french dictionary in kobo's nickel has been updated to Robert Micro (don't know how long as I haven't really use nickel for months). this is great news because it's quite a decent dictionary compared to before.

I also noticed that the html files are just crypted by gzip (they are html files which are in fact gzip files with a html file inside them). So it's super easy to decrypt them (just need decompressing) and to make a stardict dictionary from it (which I just finished) using penelope csv to stardict.

I wrote it here for science =)

Does KOReader work on keyboard based Kindle Devices now?

This has been asked several times in the past to which the response has always been "KOReader doesn't support non-touch devices."

However, on the KOReader Kindle Installation Instructions page (which was last updated 25 days ago) it says:
"KOReader can be installed on all jailbroken Kindle devices."

So does it work on older devices such as the Kindle Keyboard now or not? It's hard to tell. I do have it install on my Kindle Keyboard at this point, however, I can't find instructions on how to use it once I've launched it. Everything says to touch the screen to launch options, but obviously I don't have a touch screen.

Literata font on KOReader

Has anyone used successfully the Google Literata font on KOreader? There is a problem with the regular and italic font files, they cannot be registered by crengine in koreader under both kindle and kobo, with correct panose information.

Statusbar position

Is there any way to change the position of statusbar? I mean the one that shows by default when viewing pdf files. Presumably it's DMINNIBAR in the advanced settings, but I cannot find a setting that would change the position of the status bar (top instead of bottom).

irregular word spacing

Good day.

I have noticed that when reading epubs in koreader on my KA1 the space between the last two words in a line is very short when the last word is just one character (usually the words "a" and "I"). Is this expected? Maybe there is a setting to avoid this? Thank you for your attention.

koreader highlighting pdfs

Hello, I have few question regarding koreader highlight functionality. My goal is to have same set of pdfs which will be read on kobo reader and my pc, so highlights made on one device needs to be seen on another.

Can koreader:
  • view highlighted pdfs?
  • highlight pdf and save to same pdf file?
  • can other pdf viewers view highlighted pdfs?

[Kindle 3G] No update by OTA since last firmware update

Hi

Since the last udpade of firmware, when I use update by OTA, the program don’t update by 3g way. By wifi, everything work fine but not by 3g connexion.

I know, when I use Wikipedia search, I was bloqued, but now, it’s wikipedia and update.

Do you think the problem come from KOReader or, Amazon have find a solution for don’t use this way for update the program...

Looking for koreader developers for an interview in Swedish library journal

Hi everyone,

I'm the editor of the Swedish progressive librarianship journal bis.

We are trying to include texts on FOSS and especially library- or literature-related free software, and we want to get in touch with koreader developers for an interview. We think that the development of this software would be very interesting for our readers.

The interview would focus on koreader, ebooks and digitization, hacking e-readers, DRM, and on libre software/culture in general. It would ideally be carried out by email (questions, answers, follow-up questions, follow-up answers), but if you prefer some other protocol, I'm sure we can arrange something. The interview will have to be done by mid August.

Please PM me if you are a developer and would be willing to participate in an interview.

Does it work on this ebook reader?

i have a kobo mini touch screen from a few years ago and it is nightmare to use in that the idiot designers did not add a back button to the search or to anything else

you have to go menu or home screen each time and every time...a long convoluted process

i was wandering if koreader can be installed on it and if it has normal explorer type functionality instead.

i tried the search but only found confusing results.

has anyone installed koreader on the kobo mini and give me a pointer on how to do it?

Change cover size in list mode display?

Hi all,
is there any way to change (increase) the cover size in detailed list display modes?
I gave a look at D:\.adds\koreader\plugins\coverbrowser.koplugin\li stmenu.lua but I didn't find an easy parameter to change...
